Sunrise Summit Challenge

The Sunrise Summit Challenge is a multi-location walking event organised by the Irish Red Cross. The event requires participants to start walking during the hours of darkness in order to witness the sunrise from their chosen summit. Participants can choose from the following ten summits: Carrauntoohil (County Kerry); Torc Mountain (County Kerry); Lugnaquillia Mountain (County Wicklow); Djouce Mountain (County Wicklow); Galtymore Mountain (Counties Tipperary & Limerick); Mweelrea (County Mayo); Diamond Hill (County Galway); Slieve Donard (County Down); Errigal Mountain (County Donegal); and the Coumshingaun Circuit (County Waterford).


Please note that this page does not contain the latest information for the walking event named above. We are currently in the process of designing and building a new and improved version of The Ireland Walking Guide website behind the scenes. In the meantime, the outgoing version of the website will remain live but will not be updated or developed any further.
