Ireland Walking Every Day

Join our every day walking health & fitness campaign any time

We all know that walking is good for our bodies and minds. It is one of the most accessible recreational activities available and can be started right from our own front door. Walking requires very little, if anything, in terms of specialist equipment and it costs nothing to do. If you are looking for a flexible, accessible and inexpensive way to improve your overall health and fitness, all you need to do is walk every day.

Ireland Walking Every Day is our anytime walking health & fitness campaign. You may have heard of other shorter-term campaigns where participants are challenged to walk on 21, 100, etc consecutive days. While those short-term initiatives are great for kickstarting a new walking habit, our Ireland Walking Every Day campaign encourages you to fit daily walks into your routine on a more permanent basis.

Whether you start on New Year's Day, the first day of a new month, or any date of the year, you are always welcome to join the Ireland Walking Every Day campaign. Introducing recreational walking into your daily routine can be a big challenge for some. After about three weeks, however, walking will have become an established daily habit that requires little motivation. From there, you can then build up the distance / time / speed of your walks to further improve your fitness.

Walk every day, feel the benefits, and discover a healthier you.

Where to walk

We have hundreds of walking locations listed in our Where to walk section. There you will find parkland, woodland, coastal and upland locations throughout Ireland just waiting for you to explore. We also have a dedicated walking "home page" for each county in Ireland.

Get fit in 15 minutes

Join the Ireland Walking Every Day campaign by walking for at least fifteen minutes each day. If you can fit in a half-hour walk, that's great. If you can manage an hour or more, that's even better. The longer you walk, the greater the health benefits you'll feel. The main thing is that you get yourself outside and walk for a minimum of fifteen minutes every single day. No matter where you are, no matter what the weather, no matter how you are feeling, get your fifteen minutes done. Get into a healthy new daily habit of walking. Most of us should be able to find the time for a walk every day.

#IrelandWalkingEveryDay

We invite you to share photos and videos from your daily walks using the #IrelandWalkingEveryDay hashtag on social media. You can find The Ireland Walking Guide on Twitter and Instagram so please give us a mention in your posts to be sure we don't miss them. We also have a public Facebook group where members can post their Ireland walk-related stories, photos, videos, etc. We will share a selection of the group's most interesting posts to our main Facebook page. There's no need to post something on social media every day, but we would love to see and share your walking highlights.

If you want us to see / like / share your posts, please make sure to give us a mention. Each time you include our @irelandwalking handle in a post, we'll be notified. We rely exclusively on mention notifications to bring Irish walk-related posts to our attention on social media. We will take a look at every post we're mentioned in and interact with it accordingly.

We also promote a series of twelve monthly walking themes throughout the year. These include parkland, woodland, coastal and upland themes. Feel free to get involved each month if you would like to add some variety to your walks during the year.
