We do not aim to be a self-contained, one-stop website that tries to do everything in-house. We see little point in hosting content that is already being well presented on other websites. Our belief is that the provision of Irish walking information should not be a competition. It should be a team effort. Rather than competing, we want to work with and help promote specialist websites that focus on related sub-topics, regional information and participation initiatives.
Online resources who choose to be promoted by The Ireland Walking Guide will be listed on our Recommended websites page.
We are also keen to support national, regional and local Participation initiatives and Environmental initiatives.
Related sub-topics
We already list some resources, but we are keen to promote others too. Examples of related sub-topics include walking routes, hillwalking, mountaineering, governance, coastal walks, forest walks, etc.
Regional Information
There are some excellent websites out there that provide detailed walking information for specific regions. Some focus on particular counties or provinces. Others focus on individual mountain ranges or coastal areas. We are more than happy to link to regional websites from The Ireland Walking Guide.
Participation initiatives
There are some great initiatives out there designed to encourage more people to get into walking as a leisure activity. We would be delighted to link to these from the website.
Environmental initiatives
We encourage walkers to help protect the places they walk in. We are always more than happy to support walk-related environmental initiatives by by liking to them from the website.
