"Monthly Themes" calendar

Picture
The Ireland Walking Guide's 2022 "Monthly Themes" calendar is available as free downloadable PDF files for you to print.

Choose from three layouts

Each page on our calendars displays a full month. Depending on which version you choose, each month is set out as a grid, 1-column, or 5-column layout.

The grid and 1-column layouts are perfect for individual users to mark upcoming events, while the 5-column layout is an excellent group organiser for home or office where each person gets their own column. Alternatively, the 5-column layout is a great solution for busy individuals who may need to assign columns to different parts of their day (e.g. morning, afternoon, evening, etc).

Sizes

The PDF file for each version of the calendar has been created as a series of A3 pages (297mm wide by 420mm tall). However, it can just as easily be printed to fit on A4 pages (210mm wide by 297mm tall).

Downloading

PDF files of the three versions of our calendar are available as free downloads on The Ireland Walking Guide Information Hub:

Each calendar's file size is approximately 3 megabytes.

Printing & assembling

You can print the whole calendar all in one go or just each month's page as you need it.

If you don't have your own printer, take the PDF file to your local print shop on a portable storage device (or direct them to this webpage) and ask them to print the calendar for you. Your local print shop will charge for this service but can offer a wide selection of page sizes and paper types. They will also have the facilities to bind the top edges together to create a high-quality product in minutes. Although there will be a cost involved, this option is likely to be several euros / pounds cheaper compared to buying conventional calendars.

If you are using the services of your local print shop, feel free to mention that we permit them to produce and sell our calendars in their store.

Displaying

Our calendars are perfect for home or office use and there are many display options. For example, each individual monthly sheet could be mounted on a fridge (using magnets), on a notice board (using drawing pins), or on a wall (using "Blu-tack" or similar). Alternatively, punch holes in the tops of all pages and add a short loop of string, ribbon or wire for hanging. For a more professional look, bind the pages together along their top edge.

The perfect gift

Our calendars are gifts from The Ireland Walking Guide to the Irish walking community. They have been designed exclusively for walkers, so feel free to pass them on as gifts to your walker friends. There is no limit to the number of times our calendars can be downloaded, printed and redistributed.

A note to retailers

Retailers are very welcome to download, print and bind our calendars to sell in their stores on the condition that they do not modify the layouts in any way. There is no limit to the number of times our calendars can be downloaded, printed and redistributed.

The eco-friendly calendar

Unlike conventionally-produced calendars, our downloadable print-your-own calendars do not require any form of packaging. By choosing ours you are saving the environment from an unnecessary piece of single-use plastic wrapping. Our calendars also allow you to choose your own method for binding their pages together. We recommend reusable binders to avoid wastage every year.

Support a charity

Depending on the materials you use to build your calendar, you should save money compared to buying a conventionally-produced calendar. Please consider donating to a charity of your choice any money saved from choosing our calendar. We list some charities on the following pages:

  • Mountain Rescue Ireland

Shortcuts & bookmarks

If you find yourself returning to any particular page on this website, we recommend creating a shortcut on your device and a bookmark in your internet browser. These will give you much quicker access to the Irish walk-related information you need. For full details, including step-by-step instructions, please visit our "Shortcuts & bookmarks" page.

Walking initiatives

We have developed the widest possible selection of meaningful initiatives to promote recreational walking in Ireland. These are delivered across The Ireland Walking Guide and High Point Ireland websites and range from monthly walking themes right through to the official All-Ireland Hillwalking Championships. We aim to deliver a consistent programme of initiatives every year on a recurring basis rather than a series of standalone one-off campaigns. Our "predictable" approach to participation initiatives means walkers always know what's coming up and have ample time to plan ahead. But why should you take part? Click here to find out...
