As part of our ongoing website development strategy, we invite walkers with in-depth knowledge of their local walking areas to join our all-Ireland network of Local Walking Experts.
We receive lots of queries from walkers asking about specific walking areas, locations and National Waymarked Trails (NWTs). Unfortunately, we don't always have the answers they need. For this reason, we have decided to create a network of Local Walking Experts who we can call upon to answer some of the place-specific questions we get asked. We would relay specific incoming questions to the relevant Local Walking Expert via email, then relay the answer back to the person who asked the question. Relayed questions and answers will be copied / pasted into new emails rather than forwarding. No personal details will be relayed to either the person asking the question or the Local Walking Expert who answers. The responding Local Walking Expert can choose whether or not they wish to be credited in their answers.
If you would like to join our network of Local Walking Experts, you must complete this form. It is quick and easy. On the form, you will be asked to select one upland area and / or one coastal area and or one NWT for which you would be willing to share your expert knowledge. If you would like to select more than one upland area and / or coastal area and / or NWT, you will need to submit another copy of this form for it / them. You are welcome to select up to two different upland areas, two coastal areas and two NWTs (this would require two separate form submissions). If we get more than one Local Walking Expert for the same walking area / NWT, those experts will be ranked in the order we receive their forms. For each walking area / NWT, the Expert who joins first will become our first point of contact for that area. That Expert will also be given first preference when we request local assistance for our future collaborative projects.
Our goal is to be the ultimate outward-facing first-stop information resource for walking in Ireland (i.e. a website with loads of useful clickable out-going links to help walkers find the very best local walking information). This is what a genuine community website does. As such, we want to direct our website visitors and social media followers to reliable third-party websites, blogs and social media accounts. Going forward. we aim to provide a range of unique and interesting opportunities for Local Walking Experts to promote their online walk-related content, stories, messages, photos and videos.
We look forward to welcoming you as a Local Walking Expert.

Please note that The Ireland Walking Guide website is an entirely voluntary project. We provide 100% free walking information to our visitors. The website does not earn any income from subscriptions and we will never ask our visitors for donations (we are not a charity). As such, we are unable to offer our Local Walking Experts any payment for their assistance. However, we are more than happy to help promote their websites, blogs and social media feeds.
