Irish Challenge Walks

The Irish Challenge Walks Calendar

Set-date challenge walks

We aim to populate the Irish Challenge Walks Calendar below with single-click links to recurring open-invitation events. It is worth noting that most set-date challenge walks will have limited spaces available and that these could fill up very quickly when registration opens.

Flexible hillwalking challenges

If you do miss out on a space in any of the set-date events, don't worry. We have developed our very own set of flexible, any-time hillwalking challenges. Each of these can be undertaken on a day that suits you, costs nothing and has no registration limits. If you complete any of hillwalking challenges in a single day between 1st March and 31st October and log all the required mountain summits on the day using the Peakhunter app, you can claim a Certificate of Completion from High Point Ireland. Single-day completions can be counted towards your Irish Challenge Hillwalker of the Year competition point score, so it could be worth your while checking that out. In addition, every individual mountain summit you log in Ireland using the Peakhunter app, whether it is part of a challenge or not, can also be counted towards your All-Ireland Hillwalking Championships point score.

Walking initiatives

We have developed the widest possible selection of meaningful initiatives to promote recreational walking in Ireland. These are delivered across The Ireland Walking Guide and High Point Ireland websites and range from monthly walking themes right through to the official All-Ireland Hillwalking Championships. We aim to deliver a consistent programme of initiatives every year on a recurring basis rather than a series of standalone one-off campaigns. Our "predictable" approach to participation initiatives means walkers always know what's coming up and have ample time to plan ahead. But why should you take part? Click here to find out...
