Irish forest parks generally have a greater emphasis on providing recreational facilities than other forests and woodland areas in Ireland. Most have marked walking trails, cafes, campsites and plenty of car parking space. In total, there are 20 forest parks in Ireland. The 11 in the Republic of Ireland are managed by Coillte, and the 9 in Northern Ireland are managed by the Forest Service of Northern Ireland. We have marked Ireland's forest parks on a handy interactive map below to help you find them.
Forest parks offer great walking opportunities all year round, however we particularly recommend paying them a visit when their autumnal colours are on display. For this reason, we promote woodland walking as our monthly theme for October.
