Add your accommodation

We are keen to help promote walker-friendly Irish accommodation on The Ireland Walking Guide website. If you are an accommodation provider who welcomes and caters for the needs of recreational walkers, please get in touch via our Accommodation Link Exchange Form to set up a link exchange with us.

Reasons to add your accommodation to our website

Getting listed on a walking information website is a great way to attract recreational walkers who have chosen to explore your local area. Keep reading to find out why you should set up a link exchange with The Ireland Walking Guide website:

  • We list accommodation on our website for free!

  • Your accommodation will appear as an image in a slideshow on the relevant county page on The Ireland Walking Guide website. Your property's image will contain a single-click link directly to your website. We will earn nothing from bookings made using this link. As we add more walk-related content to the website in the future, additional opportunities for image placement will arise. This will require no further action from you.

  • If your accommodation can be booked through Booking.com, it will also appear as an image in a slideshow on the relevant county page on The Ireland Travel Guide website. Your property's image there will contain a single-click link to your page on Booking.com. We may earn a small commission from bookings made using this link. As we add more travel-related content to the website in the future, additional opportunities for image placement will arise. This will require no further action from you.

  • Once set up, your accommodation will be listed permanently without having to renew, resubscribe or pay annual fees. We check all of our outgoing links a couple of times each year to ensure that they are still working and up-to-date. During these checks, we also test links coming back to us from our link exchange partners' websites. If these are not working or have been removed, we will contact the partner to alert them by email. Please note: if an incoming link is not repaired or re-added within one month of an alert issued by us, this will be interpreted as a withdrawal from the link exchange arrangement by the respective partner, in which case we will also remove the associated outgoing links from our websites.

  • We receive hundreds of queries each year from people asking us to recommend places to stay. By adding your accommodation to our listings, they will be able to find you on our website.

  • We are more likely to interact with accommodation providers on social media if they are listed on our website and include @irelandwalking in their Irish walk-related posts. We receive a notification each time we get mentioned on social media. We read every post we're mentioned in and will like / share / comment accordingly. You can find us on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram.

  • Accommodation providers who are listed on The Ireland Walking Guide website are permitted to add their recurring open-invitation walking events to our search-engine-friendly Irish Walking Events listings. Our walking events pages are among the top results in all related search engine queries.

Support us (at no cost)

Our website is a 100% free resource for all to view without having to pay any subscription fees or being asked for donations. We cover all the costs of running and maintaining the website ourselves on a voluntary basis. And we do all of this purely for our love of walking in Ireland. The long-term development strategy for The Ireland Walking Guide website will continue to be implemented over the coming years and for as long as it takes until our strategic goals are achieved. In the meantime, here are some zero-cost, zero-time ways in which you can support the ongoing development of The Ireland Walking Guide and its growing family of independent Irish information websites.

Walking initiatives

We have developed the widest possible selection of meaningful initiatives to promote recreational walking in Ireland. These are delivered across The Ireland Walking Guide and High Point Ireland websites and range from monthly walking themes right through to the official All-Ireland Hillwalking Championships. We aim to deliver a consistent programme of initiatives every year on a recurring basis rather than a series of standalone one-off campaigns. Our "predictable" approach to participation initiatives means walkers always know what's coming up and have ample time to plan ahead. But why should you take part? Click here to find out...
