Club description

Peaks Mountaineering Club is based in Clonmel, Co. Tipperary which is nestled between the mountain ranges of the Comeraghs, the Galtees and the Knockmealdowns.  It is open to new members who are over 18.  New members can avail of 3 free walks before commitment to join.  The Club walks every Sunday, with a choice of graded walks to choose from, namely one star to four star.  It is recommended that new members start on the one star walks. All club walks are lead by qualified leaders.  The opportunity to walk in other counties for weekends away can also be facilitated, for example, Kerry, Wicklow, Clare.  The Club has also travelled abroad on walking holidays to such places as Wales, Lake District, Italy, France, Poland and Slovenia. During the year social events take place, including BBQ and Christmas party.  The club exists to foster a love of the outdoors and the mountain environment, and promotes the 7 principals of leave no trace policy.

Walking initiatives

We have developed the widest possible selection of meaningful initiatives to promote recreational walking in Ireland. These are delivered across The Ireland Walking Guide and High Point Ireland websites and range from monthly walking themes right through to the official All-Ireland Hillwalking Championships. We aim to deliver a consistent programme of initiatives every year on a recurring basis rather than a series of standalone one-off campaigns. Our "predictable" approach to participation initiatives means walkers always know what's coming up and have ample time to plan ahead. But why should you take part? Click here to find out...
